Phillip Fulmer to Arkansas?

Phillip Fulmer has denied being contacted by the University of Arkansas to replace Bobby Petrino as head football coach, an article from govolsxtra.com said.

The article says that one of Fulmer’s former UT assistants, Doug Matthews, said “I know Phillip has had conversations with them.”

Last season, the Vols played against the Arkansas Razorbacks and lost 49-7.  With the new SEC additions this year, the Vols will not play Arkansas.

The only possible meeting between the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Tennessee Volunteers would be in the SEC Championship game on Dec. 1.

Arkansas’ offense flourished a year ago with quarterback Tyler Wilson.  Wilson decided to return for his senior year, giving the Razorbacks hope that they can make a push for the SEC Championship, especially considering that Wilson will now be a senior.

Arkansas opens the 2012 season hosting Jacksonville State on Sept. 1.
